Requirements
To become a member you must be 18 or older, pass a physical fitness test, drug test, and background check. To operate any of our apparatus’ you must possess a valid New Jersey Drivers License (CDL is not required to operate Emergency Vehicles in NJ). You must also be approved by both the Township committee and the fire companies’ membership committee. We also request that you live within our response area.
What To Expect
Upon becoming a member of our department, you will be issued the following: your own pager, turnout gear, and a locker. As a member, you will be able to participate in Fire Department activities. These include calls (alarms, fires, etc), meetings, work details, and drills. You will have the opportunity to work side by side with experienced firefighters to help guide you along the way. After showing commitment and dedication, the Fire Department will pay for you to go through Firefighter 1 (which usually costs $200-$300 + cost of turnout gear). Firefighter 1 is a state certified course that teaches firefighting, as well as related activities including hands on live fire training. Much more is included by becoming a firefighter! Members have a sense of pride by belonging to the firefighter brother/sister hood, as well as knowing that they are giving back to his/her community. We are always in need of members, so if you have the time and commitment, then we have a place for you!
